Please SAVE THE DATE, the 2008 Pumpkin Head Regatta will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008. We will have entries in the Alumni 8+ with a shortened race (not a 6K) and will see the first competition of the Texas Crew team under 1st year Head Coach Bob Krentler.
The Texas Crew Foundation will also host a Tribute to Jeff Mork gala to honor his service to the Texas Crew Team. This will be a semi-formal event with details to follow.
Texas Crew and the Austin Rowing Club, are hosting a six week training camp for collegiate and senior level athletes. The mission of the camp is to ensure the future success of participating athletes by focusing on the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta. The primary coaches are Bob Krentler & Jimmy Clark of TX Crew. They will be assisted by Jeb Fowler formerly of UT Rowing. The camp will use facilities of ARC & TX Crew, and some equipment from UT rowing. More than 36 rowers and coxswains will be attending the camp, and representation includes the west coast, central region, and the east coast. Of course there are many Texas Longhorns at the camp, and the coaches are very excited to see the progress of the team in the fall after training with people from other programs.
TX Crew competed in the ACRA National Championship Regatta in Oklahoma City on May 24-25 2008. It was the first ever National Championship for American club teams. TX Crew had three 8s in the Grand Finals and the varsity lightweight men placed second in their category. It was an exciting end to an awesome season! We look forward to competing next year as well.
